Our Story
Unit D1 grew from my love of ceramics and a wish to share it with others here in Hucknall.
I’m Louise, the potter behind Lou Bainbridge Ceramics. When I first tried pottery, I had no idea what I was doing and didn’t think of myself as creative. Through experimentation, play and plenty of mistakes, I discovered the joy of learning and the satisfaction of making something with my own hands.
Working with clay gives me time to slow down, focus and step away from the world for a while. Just as valuable are the people: sharing ideas, encouraging each other and enjoying being together in a creative space.
I wanted to bring that experience to Hucknall—a welcoming studio where people can come together to learn, make and share. You don’t need experience or confidence to begin. Come as you are, get comfortable and give it a go. Mistakes are part of learning, and there’s as much pleasure in the process as in the finished pot.
Clay. Creativity. Community.
