Courses & Studio Access

Discover the pleasure of working with clay, from your first go on the wheel to making by hand. Explore our wheel tasters, five-week beginners’ courses and handbuilding workshops. No previous experience needed.

Wheel Taster — £50 per person

A relaxed two-hour introduction to throwing on the pottery wheel. Learn how to centre clay and begin shaping your first pots, with plenty of help along the way. No previous experience needed.

Choose one suitable pot for us to glaze and fire, ready to collect once finished. Includes clay, equipment and glazing and firing of one pot. Maximum four people per session.

Thinking about our five-week beginners course? The 9 January taster is a chance to try the wheel before the courses begin.

5-Week Beginners’ Wheel Course — £220 per person

Learn to prepare clay, centre it on the wheel, shape simple forms and finish your pots, with plenty of guidance along the way. No previous experience needed.

The first week is for practice and play: we cut through and recycle our pots to learn how they’re made.

Saturday mornings: 16, 23 and 30 January; 6 and 13 February 2027, 10am–12.30pm

COURSE INFO

Slab-Built Vase Workshop — £42

Enjoy a relaxed afternoon working with clay to make your own vase by hand. You’ll learn how to build with clay slabs, shape your vase and add texture or decoration, with guidance throughout. No previous experience needed.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

£42 per person, including clay, use of tools, a house glaze and firing of one finished vase.

Studio Access

Enjoy time in the studio to develop your own ideas, practise your skills and make alongside other potters. Studio access is for people with enough pottery experience to work independently. An induction is required before your first visit.

Sessions & spaces
• Three-hour session: £20
• Full day, approximately six hours of making time: £35
• Three wheel spaces and three handbuilding spaces
• Email to enquire about available dates and spaces

Clay & firing
• Studio clay: £2.50 per kg. Only clay purchased from the studio may be used.
• Firing: £6 per kg, measured at bisque stage, including bisque firing, house glazes and glaze firing. Minimum charge £2 per piece.
• Clay and firing are charged separately from studio access.
